Question 1

How do I change date formats in a CSV file?

Accepted Answer

Upload your CSV, select the column containing dates, specify the current format (or let the tool auto-detect), and choose your desired output format. Common conversions include MM/DD/YYYY to YYYY-MM-DD or DD-MMM-YYYY.

Question 2

What date formats are supported?

Accepted Answer

The tool supports all common formats including ISO 8601 (YYYY-MM-DD), US (MM/DD/YYYY), European (DD/MM/YYYY), Unix timestamps, and custom patterns. It handles dates with time components, different separators, and spelled-out month names.

Question 3

Can the tool auto-detect my current date format?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The tool analyzes a sample of values in your selected column and suggests the most likely format. It handles ambiguous dates (like 01/02/2024, which could be Jan 2 or Feb 1) by checking for consistency across all rows.

Question 4

Why do my dates look wrong after importing to Google Sheets?

Accepted Answer

Google Sheets may misinterpret date formats based on your locale settings. Converting to ISO 8601 format (YYYY-MM-DD) before import is the safest approach, as it's unambiguous and universally recognized by all spreadsheet software.
